Kate Sweeney is a visual artist and filmmaker who facilitates and organizes public events, exhibitions, and community activities throughout Great Britain and abroad. In collaboration with writers, theatre, and sonic artists, Kate approaches her artwork as an experimental process of discovery for articulating ideas. Her video and drawing installations create a dialogue between the organic and the digital as they explore the physical relationship between the porous qualities of projection and the shifting surfaces and spaces it creates. Kate is an associate artist at Newcastle University where she is involved in developing a digital interface for the Bloodaxe Poetry archive. Her film 'Proof' is a poetic exploration of the contents of the archive and was premiered as part of the Festival of The North East 2013. Her film collaborations with poet Colette Bryce have been shortlisted for the Ted Hughes prize for New Works in Poetry. She is currently a visiting lecturer for the MA in Fine Art in Education at Northumbria University.
