Sam Downs is a teacher, fiction writer, essayist, book critic, and editor from Minnesota’s driftless area. He received his BA in Political Science and English from Macalester College and his MFA in Creative Writing from Texas State University, where he edited the fiction section of Porter House Review.
His work has appeared in Joyland Magazine, The Ploughshares Blog, Atticus Review, and Porter House Review. He is currently at work on a novel.
