Sue retired in 2021 after 32 years of teaching in public elementary schools. Her writing has been recognized as Notable in Best American Essays, and has won numerous other awards. Sue is the Humor judge in the Soul-Making Keats Literary Competition, and has been published in McSweeney's, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Masters Review, Full Grown People, and nearly 40 other literary journals. She enjoys volunteering as a CASA, hiking, traveling, and petting every dog she encounters. She has completed a collection of essays about teaching, and is searching for a publisher.
