Ice on the Water

Artist’s Statement: I recorded Mykl O’Dempsey singing this in England back in the late 1990s. “Ice on the Water” has accompanied me through the years and I have often thought about what images I would like to add. It was only after I had begun creating the opening skating figure during the coronavirus confinement in Spain at the beginning of 2020, that I found something click into place in the text and finally got an insight into what it is about. Over 20 years after recording him, I sent the animation to Mykl who’d forgotten that I’d even recorded the song. Now living in New Zealand (where I was born), he was amazed to see what I’d done.
