Dear Readers,

Welcome to another year with Boo’s Hollow where we are still thinking about place and poetry and a range of so much that comes with those territories.

This year, rather than featuring a poet and her poems, we are starting off with a conversation about place with a Boo’s Hollow veteran, Steve Davenport. We wanted to exchange thoughts on place while I was traveling in Israel after having spent a semester in Italy and he was at home in Illinois. What might happen to our thinking about place and language when one person is in transit and the other in stasis? This conversation took place over more than a month and ranged, as you will see, beyond place and poetry into gender and race. It seems especially fitting that it is coming to you just after Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Thank you for reading and I hope you’ll stay tuned for a year of more writing on place and poetry and poems from our authors of 2015.

Happy New Year!

Lea Graham
