Artist’s Statement:
We live in a world of constantly flowing opinions, which we receive whether we ask for them or not. In the case of bereavement, there is a whole crop of sayings and responses, not always but often unhelpful and inadequate – sayings and responses we might believe in, until we experience deep loss for ourselves. This film is one of several made in the years following the sudden death of my youngest sister, Carole. We were very close and for a long time I found it hard to allow myself to think about her. But at times when activity is suspended, as on a long car journey for example, the thoughts, memories and grief steal in.
