a white root:

it taps
the fruiting thing,

the feeding,
the cleaving thing—

When the invasion came,
I opened,
I gave it refuge.

Claire Hero

Claire Hero is the author of Sing, Mongrel and of three chapbooks: afterpastures, Cabinet, and most recently, Dollyland (Tarpaulin Sky 2012).
