Grip this core
formed to your

hand. Your wrist
snaps elbow, arm,

whips chest and ribs
to pace the pitch’s

spin and give,
to settle the grist

in the mitt’s crib.

Sandra Marchetti is the author of Confluence, a full-length collection of poetry from Sundress Publications (2015).
