They Stink


Now the rich people

down by the lake

complain about


the vultures —

They stink!

Myself, I laugh


to see those birds

cock their Vees

and look for death,


for they are con-

sumers of offal,

takers of all


the world refuses,

cleaners of what

needs cleaning.


Down by the lake,

though, the rich people
still complain —


They stink!
