Atticus NFT Basics

What is an NFT?

The term NFT stands for “Non-Fungible Token.” It is a unique digital asset that is stored on a blockchain. The NFT represents ownership of a specific item or piece of content. The “Non-fungible” part of NFT simply means that it is unique and cannot be substituted.

A cryptocurrency, on the other hand, is a fungible token. They are all the same. You can replace them with one another.

What is an Atticus Review NFT?

Our NFTs represent ownership of a PDF file that contains poetry and accompanying artwork. The NFT also references a PNG of the front cover of this PDF file. The NFT verifies ownership of these assets.

When we publish a piece of writing as an NFT, we release them in a collection of five. Each NFT in that collection has a unique visual appearance.

So is the NFT the image or is it the PDF file?

The NFT is neither the image nor the PDF file. Technically, the NFT is a unique digital token on the Cardano blockchain that represents ownership and contains metadata about the image and the PDF document.

How do I collect an NFT?

Our NFTs are created on the Cardano Blockchain. In order to collect an Atticus NFT, you will need a Cardano Wallet such as Lace. We recommend the Lace wallet if you are using your web browser. We recommend the Vespr wallet if you are using a mobile device.

We have tutorials on how to set up both a Lace Wallet for web browsers and a Vespr Wallet for mobile devices below.

What happens when I collect an Atticus NFT?

On a browser, when you click the “Collect” button on our site, you will be taken to a page where you can connect your wallet and collect the NFT. After you successfully complete the transaction, the NFT will appear in your wallet.

Here’s a page that describes in detail what will happen when you collect an Atticus Literary NFT:

Can I re-list or trade my Atticus NFT?

Yes, once you own an NFT in your wallet, you can list that NFT on a Cardano NFT exchange such as JPG Store. Our NFTs are set up to give a royalty to the author featured in the NFT.
